1. Leaders of National Movements

41. Kanhaiyalal Munshi (1887-1971) : 

Before joining Indian National Congress he was drawn towards a revolutionary group. He soon became disenchanted with their methods and joined political mainstream. He founded Bharatiya Vidhya Bhavan and Wrote 'I Follow the Mahatma' , 'Pilgrimage to Freedom' etc. 

42. Kashinath Trimbak Telang (1850-1893) : 

The Co-founder of the Bombay Presidency Association, one of the founders of Indian National Congress. He was an active social reformer and advocated the cause of women's welfare. He was the President of National Social Conference. 

43. Kailash Nath Katju (1887-1969) : 

A well known advocate and political activist, defended the accussed in Meerut Conspiracy Case and elected to the Constituent Assembly. He became the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. 

44. Kharshedji Rustamji Cama : 

Parsi businessman deeply interested in public activities and social reforms, who advocated socio religious reform amongst Parsis. 

45. Liaquat Ali Khan (1895-1951) : 

A prominent Muslim League leader, played an important role in bringing negotiations with Congress (Liaquat-Desai Pact), Finance Minister in Interim Central Government and Pakistan's first Prime Minister. 

46. Lala Lajpat Rai : 

Under the influence of Arya Samaj, founded National School at Lahore, boycotted Simon Commission and demonstrated against it at Lahore during which he was brutally assaulted by police and succumbed to his injuries. 

47. Madhusudan Das : 

Considered as 'the architect' of modern Orissa, worked for industrial and social development of Orissa, condemned caste system and upheld the cause of women education and edited 'The Oriya' which voiced the grievances of the people. 

48. Madan Mohan Malviya (1861-1946) : 

Moderate Congress leader, educationist member of Central and Provincial Legislature for many terms, helped set up the Indian Industrial Conference and UP Industrial Association in 1907, helped form BHU and later became its Vice-Chancellor. 

49. Mukund Ramarao Jayakar : 

Moderate leader, joined Home Rule League in 1916, member of the Congress committee to enquire into the Punjab disturbances and played an important role in bringing about Gandhi-Irwin Pact. 

50. Madhav Srihari Aney (1880-1968) : 

Rightwing Congressman, joined the Responsivist party in 1926, General Secretary of Anti Communal Award Committee, 1935, member of Executive Committee of Governor General but resigned in two years (1943), and a member of Constituent Assembly. 

51. Motilal Nehru (1861-1931) : 

An esteemed lawyer, got involved with national movement in 1916; He along with CR Das set up Swaraj Party after Gandhiji called off Non Cooperation Movement. He also made the draft Constitution (Nehru Report) on behalf of Indian Political Parties. 

52. Mazhar-Ul-Haq : 

His efforts brought Muslim League and Congress closer. He participated in the Champaran Satyagraha, Non Cooperation Movement and advocated Swadeshi. He also started an English weekly 'The Motherland'. 

53. Maulana Shaukat Ali : 

One half of the famous Ali brothers, presided over the Khilafat Committee, travelled in Muslim countries to organize World Muslim Conference. He suffered  imprisonment  for criticizing the Government during World War- I. 

54. Maulana Muhammad Ali (1878-1931) :  

Presided over the 38th annual session of Congress at Kakinada in1924, one of the coveners of Unity Conference, attended the first Round Table Conferrence, edited English daily 'Comrade' and an Urdu daily 'Hamdard'. 

55. Mohanlal Ghose (1849-1909) : 

A moderate political leader, an eloquent speaker who used his talent in 1879 when he represented British Indian Association (Calcutta) in London to demand the admission of Indians in Civil services. 

56. Mohammad Ali Jinnah (1876-1948) : 

His political career began with Indian National Congress but in 1913 he joined the Muslim league and soon became its President. As the leader of Muslim League he advocated the two nation theory. He became Pakistan's first Governor General after partition. 

57. M.A. Ansari (1880-1936) :  

A qualified Surgeon, in 1912-13 played an important role in organizing the All India Medical Mission to Turkey, in 1928 presided over "The All Parties Conference" and closely associated with the founding of Jamia Millia Islamia. 

58. Mian Abdur Haye (1889-1946) : 

He was an outspoken nationalist and supported the Hindu-Muslim unity. Joined Unionist Party when he became disappointed by calling off Non Co-operation Movement by Congress. 

59. Mahadev Desai (1892-1942) : 

Secretary to Mahatma Gandhi for 25 years, edited many newspapers like 'The Independent', 'Navjivan', passed away in Agha Khan Palace in Pune during his detention for participating in Quit India Movement (QIM). 

60. M.N. Roy (1887-1954) : 

A communist leader who was closely associated with several communist leaders of the world. At Lenin's invitation he visited USSR. He was elected full member of Comintern in 1924. He founded Radical Democratic Party in 1940.
